Third-time candidate Mary Jean Lastimosa bags the top crown
MANILA, Philippines - The Bb Pilipinas 2014 coronation night last March 30, Sunday, was highly anticipated for a number of reasons.
First, people wanted to see who would take the place of the Binibini Gold (2013 was the 50th year of the pageant) queens who brought home pride to the country by winning titles and placing in their respective pageants.

Second, people wanted to see Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler, who was one of the judges of the pageant. 2014 is the year Filipino pageant fans hope to win the Miss Universe crown again (our second and last was in 1973 care of Margie Moran). They wonder: if Gabriela is part of the panel that will choose the new Miss Universe Philippines, will she stand a greater chance of finally bringing home the crown again?
Third, people also wanted to see Paula Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization. With Molly Isler and Paula was Emin, the Russian pop superstar who handpicked Ara to be part of the music video of his song, "In Another Life."
