The festival that kicked off Hollywood's awards season announces this year's winners
MANILA, Philippines - Palm Springs International Film Festival 2014 held their gala night one week ago, January 5 (January 6, Philippine time) and is ongoing until January 13 (January 14, Philippine time).
The winners of the festival have just been announced, and among them is my favorite Mads Mikkelsen of TV's "Hannibal" fame.
Here are the winners announced so far:
- FIPRESCI BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM: The Broken Circle Breakdown (Belgium), Felix van Groeningen
- FIPRESCI BEST ACTOR IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM: Mads Mikkelsen, The Hunt, (Denmark), Thomas Vinterberg
- FIPRESCI BEST ACTRESS IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM: Bérénice Bejo, The Past (Iran), Asghar Farhadi
- NEW VOICES/NEW VISIONS: Medeas (USA), Andrea Pallaoro
- CINE LATINO: Heli (Mexico), Amat Escalante and Living Is Easy With Eyes Closed (Spain), David Trueba
- JOHN SCHLESINGER AWARD: Finding Vivian Maier (USA), John Maloof and Charlie Siskel
- HP BRIDGING THE BORDERS AWARD: Walesa. Man of Hope (Poland), Andrzej Wajda
- HP BRIDGING THE BORDERS SPECIAL JURY AWARD: Plot for Peace (South Africa), Carlos Agulló and Mandy Jacobson
Yet to be announced as of writing are:
- Mercedes-Benz Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature
- Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature
Audience Award winners will be announced on Sunday, January 12 (January 23, Philippine time).
